The “Caroline” is a timber frame design consisting of four bent profiles that are 32' wide, evenly spaced 16' apart, spanning a 48' length footprint. The plan offers 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, loft area and a garage with an overhead storage space easily accessible from the loft. Added off the back side of this 2800 sq. ft. structure is a 16' x 12' frame that extends the great room, giving close to 4000 sq. ft. of usable living space. Floor joists are placed for a 4th level loft adding an 800 sq. ft. bedroom/ observatory. A full finished basement of 1600 sq. ft. with recreational room, bedroom and bath gives this home a total of 5600 sq. ft. of usable living space. Another example of this timber frame can be found in the “Bowman” gallery; however, the great room addition is moved to the front corner of the floor plan, providing an excellent representation of how a little frame positioning impacts the entire home design.
