I'm Ron Gabany and this
is my son, Eric. Our company, Atlantic Timberframes, is a true family business.
Since 1981 I've been working along with my family, friends, and fellow timber
framers to erect unforgettable timber frames around the country. We love what
we do: building the best homes we possibly can for people we have come to know
and like. If you contact us now, I'll show you why the
size of the company really doesn't matter, but the quality of the craftsmanship
does. | |

The
story of Atlantic Timberframes is the story of Ron Gabany. Born
in Johnstown, PA, Ron got the building bug, with construction of a doghouse at
the age of ten and with his grandfather's introduction of the framing square.
In 1974, after Navy service, he, like others who felt a need to return to their
roots, moved back to the country. With a team of horses, foot adze, and broad
ax, he hand-hewed timbers for his home, with timber framing information from a
number of sources, especially Atlantic Boatworks. In 1980, Ron built his
first timber frame home. Before enclosing the frame, however, he held a wedding
ceremony marrying Jennifer Mae; a year later, Ron's son, Eric, arrived. |
From
l981 to 1990, Ron and a crew of ten built log cabins, commercial buildings, and
homes. Throughout this period, he continued to explore the timber frame craft
and the renown men of the trade. In 1990, while building a timber frame home for
Ron's brother Ray, Ron met the man who was to become his mentor, Bob Donahue,
of Atlantic, PA. Due to failing health, Bob had closed his building company, Atlantic
Boatworks. From those ashes, Atlantic Timberframes, Inc. was born out of
the tools, knowledge, and skill passed on by Bob to Ron.
